Kink is a sacred healing practice that will change your life
did you ever watch real sex on the sneak when your parents left the room? if so, you're not alone
Tell me what you think about this video! What does kink mean to you? What kind of kinky shit are you into? Let’s be friends!
I don’t remember when I was first introduced to kink but I’ve been into it since I was a kid.
I didn’t know kink was a healing practice back then. Honestly I didn’t know it was called kink. But I was definitely that kid who was watching Real Sex and Taxicab Confessions on the sneak when my parents were out of the room. I remember watching an episode of Real Sex and being blown away by the way they talked about sexuality and kink. It made me scared and nervous and excited, which I now know are the key ingredients to fun!
Okay but what is kink?
In human sexuality, kinkiness is the use of non-conventional sexual practices, concepts or fantasies. The term derives from the idea of a "bend" in one's sexual behavior which is a contrast to what’s often called "straight" or "vanilla" behaviors and sexual mores and proclivities.
Kink is not necessarily sexual. You can definitely do kinky things that are not at all sexual and have kink relationships that are purely platonic and/or aromantic and/or not sexual.
Kink can be a solo practice or you can practice it in relationships with other people.
Kink can be deeply psychological and sometimes it can be purely physical.
There’s a wide spectrum of what kink is, and within that spectrum there’s a lot of room to learn about yourself.
So how is kink a healing practice?
Kink allows us to dive deeper into parts of our lives and experiences that we might otherwise hide, like our fears, struggles, and oshame. Our fears, struggles, and shame have the potential to become a big part of our identity and they can limit us from achieving what we want in our lives. Finding a way to deal with that underlying emotional experience can create major breakthroughs in every part of your life.
Kink is a really powerful way to heal childhood trauma and come home to yourself. For me it has been an incredible way to practice self-reflection and it is a great complement for my yoga practice. Basically:
Yoga opens your mind, body, and spirit.
Kink helps you find order and pleasure within your mind, body, and spirit.
Ask yourself these questions to start understanding your kinks:
What am I into?
What turns me on?
What makes me happy?
What makes me sad?
Where do I want to go from here?
What do I want out of life?
